SoundShade was an IoT, AppleTV, and iPhone app that let clients arrange crafted ambient sounds in "3D" space. The app had a free sample edition and a paid version with all sounds (1,99€).

SoundShade App

Together with the team, I designed (UX, UI) an app for iPhone, iPad and AppleTV. The apps had 34 headphones-optimized sounds, organised into ready-to-listen templates. Users could combine and move the sounds around in 360 degrees, to find the perfect positions.

SoundShade Pro

The IoT device and the custom URL "sound rooms" allowed anyone with the link to adjust the ambient sounds in public spaces, easily. The subscription service was piloted with two major Finnish cooperations.

Promo video by RuinedFilms; sound design Scott McGregor. I collaborated on the storyboard and art direction, as well as providing the brand assets and icons.

Visual design

To support SoundShade products, I designed marketing collaterals such as pitch decks, app store assets, SoMe posts and printable materials.

Learnings

With SoundShade, I learned a great deal about entrepreneurship – things such as prioritisation, funding, business wit, and supporting the team, to name a few.

Trying to blend business admin roles with IC functions was hard and not ideal. This experience was worth it. Our team truly did a great job!
